The fourth season of Money Heist (La casa de papel) included more action and bloodshed than the previous three.
The season four finale may have followed the same concept as season two, completing the heist in two seasons. But nothing goes according to plan this time, so the gang has to buy some time.
Season four finishes on a cliffhanger, leaving room for a possible Money Heist season five.
Money Heist was filmed in Spain, Denmark, and Portugal and has 10 episodes. Money Heist's final season is no exception. Netflix has decided to split the plot over two volumes, each with a somewhat distinct tone.
Volume 1 will be released on September 3, 2021, and Volume 2 on December 3, 2021.
The show's creator, Lex Pina, explains why in an official statement:
"When we began to write Part 5 in the midst of the pandemic, we felt that we had to change what was expected from the ten-episode season and used every tool we could to create the sensation of a season finale or series finale in the first volume itself. We decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre, putting The Gang on the ropes. In volume 2, we focus more on the emotional situation of the characters. It is a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure."
While we're waiting for the new episodes, there's always Money Heist: The Experience, an interactive theatre play opening in November in an "iconic" London Location, can tide us over.
Each show is 60-75 minutes long and features original costumes and masks from the series.
